Have you considered taking the plunge into TikTok?! We’re here to say: Go for it!

We started on TikTok in early July 2020 for our client @bohanalife and we just hit 1,000,000 views on our first video and 75k+ on a handful of others!

Here are our top three takeaways:

1️⃣ Don’t under estimate the potential of a second wind! Our first post took off initially and received about 20k views in the first week. Then there was a bit of a lull period where it plateaued for a few days. About 10 days after being posted it received a “second wind” and skyrocketed from about 100k to 1,000,000 views in less than a week!
Lesson learned: don’t delete past content, it could receive a second surge!

2️⃣ Know your audience! As most people know, the primary age of TikTok users skews younger. It’s important to adjust your messaging and tone to be optimized for this audience. Also- do your research! We received a comment that quickly became the most liked and admittedly we weren’t sure what the reference was, but a quick Google search pointed us in the right direction and we were able to craft a response that impressed the community! Also, replying to all commenters is expected on TikTok, be prepared to put the time in to connect with your community.
Lesson learned: a little bit of research goes a long way in terms of engagement success!

3️⃣ Consistency is key! This is almost a universal social media principle, but it’s especially important on TikTok where the algorithm isn’t driven by number of followers. TikTok is constantly serving your videos to new people, so give it something to use! Try new styles, new sounds, different strategies- you can reach a wide group of people by testing different content! Don’t get discouraged if not every video goes viral.
Lesson learned: every view is a potential new customer, focus on your current community and it will grow overtime!

Overall, TikTok as a platform is focused on bringing its users highly relevant and valuable content which makes it a super engaging platform to be a part of! As a brand, it’s an important reminder that your community and the value you provide to them should always be your #1 focus!
